Tonse Pamodzi Alliance Moves to Sue ECZ Over Candidate Disqualifications
LUSAKA – The Tonse Pamodzi Alliance, a formidable coalition of opposition parties, has declared its firm intention to challenge the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) in court over the disqualification of a significant number of its candidates from the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections. The Alliance's legal team is reportedly preparing a comprehensive petition, aiming to demonstrate that the ECZ's decisions were ultra vires or procedurally unsound. This legal battle comes at a sensitive time, with Zambia gearing up for what is anticipated to be a closely contested general election. The integrity of the electoral process, from voter registration to candidate nominations and vote tallying, is paramount for ensuring public confidence and a pea
