President Hakainde Hichilema has re-appointed his seven-member presidential advisory team, State House announced on Thursday 22 October. The appointments were made under Article 92(2)(e) and (f) of the Constitution, and the advisers will continue serving in their roles. The team is: Bradford Machila, Principal Private Secretary; Christopher Mundia, Special Assistant to the President for Legal Affairs; Joseph Lungu, Special Assistant to the President for Policy Compliance; Dr Lawrence Mwananyanda, Special Assistant to the President for Projects Implementation Monitoring and National Security; Levy Ngoma, Special Assistant to the President for Political Affairs; Dr Pamela Nakamba, Special Assistant to the President for Economic Affairs; and Jito Kayumba, Special Assistant to the President for Finance and Investments. In a statement issued in Lusaka, State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka said the President congratulated the appointees and wished them God's blessings in their work. The statement did not give an effective date. All seven have been part of his administration since his first term. Mr Hichilema was sworn in for a second term on 2 September after the 13 August general election. ## Why it matters The advisers are appointed by the President, not elected, and they work directly with him on the law, politics, the economy, investment, the monitoring of government projects and national security. Because they sit close to the centre of decisions, their continuation means the team around the President stays the same as in his first term. ## What happens next The advisers carry on in their current roles. No further appointments to the President's office have been announced. Source: The Zambian Observer, 22 October 2026, 10:58 (Africa/Lusaka).
