More than 100 families in Chilanga's Zesco Kalundu area face eviction after allegedly buying plots from bogus estate agents, according to a report in the Sunday Times of Zambia. The families say they bought plots measuring 20 by 30, 30 by 40 and 50 by 50 metres last year, paying between K50,000 and K60,000. The land, however, reportedly belongs to a foreign investor who acquired it in 2024 and registered it with the Ministry of Lands. Some families have already built houses. Catherine Njombi, who represents the group, said the agents could not be traced, and appealed to the Government for help. The matter has been reported to the police. The businessman, who has not been named, says he acquired the land lawfully and holds legal documents. The report has not been confirmed by other outlets. **Source:** Times of Zambia Facebook post (story in comments), by Cleopatra Mwamba, from the Sunday Times.
