PRESIDENT HICHILEMA TERMINATES CONTRACT OF SOUTHERN PROVINCE DEPUTY PS
President Hakainde Hichilema has terminated the employment contract for Southern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Yolanta Mutyambe with immediate effect. The announcement, which has generated significant interest across administrative circles in Livingstone and Lusaka, forms part of a broader series of public service adjustments overseen by the Head of State under the constitutional provisions governing public office holders. Ms. Mutyambe's tenure in the Southern Province administration had previously seen her spearheading various regional oversight initiatives, including compliance checks on public resource utilization and government fleet management. Provincial administrative secretariats play a pivotal role in driving central government policy, coordinating provincial development plans, and ensuring that public resources are prudently managed across all districts ranging from Kalomo to Kazungula. State House has consistently emphasized that administrative changes at the provincial and ministerial levels are designed to optimize efficiency, enhance public service delivery, and enforce rigorous accountability standards. Under the current administration, contract terminations and redeployments of senior civil servants are frequently invoked to align provincial leadership with the broad developmental agenda and anti-corruption stance championed by the New Dawn government. As the search for a replacement begins, political and civil society observers in Southern Province are closely watching how the Cabinet Office will steer local administrative continuity. The smooth execution of decentralized developmental projects and provincial oversight remains critical to maintaining public confidence in regional governance structures across Zambia's ten provinces.
