ZCCM-IH appoints Joackim Bantubonse as new CFO

ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc (ZCCM-IH), Zambia's premier mining and energy investment holding company, has officially announced the appointment of Mr. Joackim Bantubonse as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective October 14, 2026. The strategic leadership transition comes at a crucial time as the state-backed holding firm steers key investments across the country's expanding mineral and energy portfolios, including major stakes in copper, gold, and power assets. Mr. Bantubonse brings to the role a wealth of senior financial management experience, strategic planning expertise, and deep familiarity with the complexities of regional mining operations. Prior to his appointment at ZCCM-IH, he served as the Regional Finance Director at Gemfields Limited, where he successfully managed regional financial operations and spearheaded capital-raising initiatives across multiple jurisdictions including Mozambique and Mauritius. His extensive professional background also includes holding the position of Managing Director at Kariba Minerals Limited in Zambia, alongside senior finance leadership roles at Kagem Mining Limited, Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM), and the Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc. A highly qualified finance professional, Mr. Bantubonse holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA), is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA), and is a Fellow of the Zambia Institute of Certified Accountants (FZICA). His comprehensive credentials position him well to navigate the financial demands of ZCCM-IH as it optimizes stakeholder value and fulfills its mandate as a major anchor of Zambia's resource wealth. The board of ZCCM-IH formally acknowledged the contributions of Mr. Chitalu Kabwe, who served competently as the Acting Chief Financial Officer during the interim period preceding this appointment.
