Indo Zambia Bank backs ZAFFICO Marathon 2026 focused on maternal health and environment
Indo Zambia Bank has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to corporate social responsibility by returning as a cooperating partner for the ZAFFICO Marathon 2026 for the second consecutive year. The official announcement and kit unveiling took place during a media briefing in Lusaka, drawing representatives from various corporate sponsors, civil society, and sporting fraternities to back an event that has quickly grown into a fixture on Zambia's athletic and philanthropic calendar. Operating under the compelling dual theme of “Run for Maternal Health. Run for Nature,” the upcoming marathon aims to rally thousands of participants around critical developmental causes. Speaking at the briefing, Indo Zambia Bank General Manager Godwin C. Ngoma underscored that the bank's continued participation is rooted in a shared vision of community wellbeing and sustainable national development. He noted that the marathon serves as a powerful platform that transcends sports, uniting citizens for a common good. By directing resources toward maternal healthcare, the initiative directly addresses ongoing challenges faced by expectant mothers in rural and underserved parts of the country, echoing the success of previous fundraising efforts that spearheaded infrastructure developments like rural health shelter projects. Organized by the Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation (ZAFFICO) in collaboration with partners like the Ndola Fitness Squad, the 2026 edition has set ambitious targets to scale up participation and maximize its footprint. Beyond healthcare, the marathon heavily integrates ZAFFICO's core mandate of environmental stewardship. Running through scenic forestry plantations, participants not only champion active and healthy lifestyles but also actively contribute to awareness surrounding tree planting, ecosystem preservation, and combating climate change. Corporate heavyweights joining Indo Zambia Bank have collectively pushed total sponsorships past the milestone
