Chaminuka Resort CEO Stelios Sardanis Murdered in Night Attack

Chaminuka Resort Chief Executive Officer **Stelios Sardanis** has been murdered by unknown assailants at his lodge in Chisamba District. Mr. Sardanis, aged 64, was attacked between **01:00 and 01:15 hours** on Sunday by assailants who forcibly entered his residence. Police Spokesperson **Godfrey Chilabi** says preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects, who were armed with offensive weapons, gained entry through the main glass door before breaking into Mr. Sardanis' bedroom. Mr. Chilabi says the assailants assaulted Mr. Sardanis and went away with a safe containing documents and valuables, as well as an undisclosed amount of money. He says Mr. Sardanis was rushed to **CFB Medical Centre in Lusaka** by Chaminuka Resort workers but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Mr. Chilabi says police have visited and processed the scene and have since launched investigations into the murder. He says a security guard who was on duty at the lodge at the time of the incident has been detained to assist police with investigations. Mr. Chilabi says the value of the property stolen during the incident has not yet been established. He has appealed to anyone with information that could assist in the investigations to report to the police. Stelios Sardanis was the son of the late Andrew Sardanis, a prominent Zambian businessman and author. Chaminuka is one of Zambia's most iconic luxury wildlife lodges, located in Chisamba, Central Province.
